At the election in Market Building Shed A 26 members of Council were present and the Presiding Officer and Scrutineers regularly elected having examined the voting paper declared Alderman George Allen 13 votes and Alderman Henry Macdonald 11 votes. 6 Vict no. 3 clause 38 requires a majority of the Councillors present and therefore an opinion is being sought.
