Area of 21 1/3p resumed for addition to Railway Institute (Gazette 11.11.1896, folio 8059). Area of 2a,16p leased to Minister for Instruction for school purposes, on 30.6.31 lease renewed for two years. Declaration of area as Public Park to be known as "Prince Alfred Park" and appointment of the Municipal Council as trustee. Erection of the dwarf wall and iron railing around the park by Council in 1869, with Walter Rennie Mayor (Inscription on gates in Cleveland Street). Also proposed strip along Cleveland Street be dedicated for road purpose and portion to be added to the Park approved by Council Resolution TC3187/29. The removal of the old shed, equipment and fencing of the old children's playground DF 2932/3 with complete demolition. The lease to Minister for Public Instruction extended for further two years for purpose of playground for students of Cleveland Street Public School and also for practical Horticulture. New Coronation Playground completed and approval given for women's convenience at estimated cost of £730, also naming of children's Playground "Coronation Playground". Women' convenience adjoining tennis courts was erected by R.P. Irvine contractor. By (Section 161&162 Syd. Corp Act 1932) power to erect buildings and maintain for exhibition also power to let Exhibition Building for up to 3 years. Further two years lease of playground area to the Minister of Public Instruction at rental of 1/- per annuum. Department of Railways laying underground electricity cables within the park. Possible revocation from Park of area leased to the Department of Education. The letter from Under Secretary Department of Lands advising Council that approval had been given to the revocation of area leased by Council to Department of Education and rededication of area for public school purpose.
