Advise, in reply, that a report of proceedings under these Acts was transmitted to the Colonial Secretary prior to receipt of the Crown Law Officer's opinion that Water and Sewerage accounts should be audited by the Auditor General. As Section 16 of the Corporation Abolition Act requires, the Treasurer submitted all accounts and vouchers, for the half year ended 31st December, for inspection by two auditors appointed by the Legislative Council. To hand over, as requested, "vouchers in support of all receipts and disbursements duly acquitted", would deprive the Commissioners of the only means of proving payment of any account that may be disputed.
