As it would appear that a misapprehension has arisen on this subject, the Commissioners wish to advise that, far from contemplating gratuitous insertion of the Statement referred to, or any other Notices, they simply wish to be put on the same footing as the former City Corporation: the wording of Clause 23 of the Act 17 Victoria 33 makes it impossible to pay accounts before they are certified correct by the proper Officer.
