This two-storey boarding house had an iron roof, sandstone pillars on the ground level and arched windows on the upper level. In the foreground is a stone and mortar wall with a painted advertisement for Australian Galvanising Works. In background from left to right are warehouses for Holdsworth Macpherson, Allt and Co, and Burroughs and Watt. Holdsworth Macpherson were wholesale ironmongers, and their warehouse was built in 1893. Allt and Co's warehouse, in the mid-centre, had an elaborate block and tackle mechanism over a large bay. Burroughs and Watt’s made billiard tables in their three-storey factory, which can be seen in the middle distance.
