Unique IDA-00503132SeriesCity Solicitor's LettersDateBetween 17th March 1846 and 7th May 1846FormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionMemo from City Solicitor: Memo from GR Nichols to the Town Clerk advising his reasons for not prosecuting Mr Sullivan for an alleged encroachment in Parramatta Street reported by the District Surveyor; he inspected the alleged encroachment and noted that there was no kerb stone or exterior edge of the footway and in such a case the Sydney Bench has, in the past, declined to interfere; in addition fees would need to be paid to the Surveyor General's Department for attendance. Appended: Memo from Wm Buchanan, District Surveyor, to the Town Clerk reporting that W Sullivan, Elizabeth St, has re-built on new foundations a wall to support a verandah projecting onto the road and being 8 feet 9 inches from the exterior edge of the footpath in contravention of the Alignment Act; Buchanan requests specific authority from Council to proceed against Sullivan.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
