Unique IDA-00503156SeriesCity Solicitor's LettersDateBetween 9th February 1846 and 15th January 1849FormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionMemo from City Solicitor: Memo from GR Nichols to the Town Clerk advising of Council powers relating to borrowing of funds and in reference to a resolution passed on 9 February 1846 and to clause 67 of the Act of Incorporation; Nichols states the Corporation has the power to borrow funds by sec 99 of the Act but he believes sec 67 requires the City Treasurer to place the Funds borrowed into the City Fund; he further advises that although the Council might require the City Treasurer to keep a separate account of funds derivable from the City Water Works he does not believe Council is warranted by the Act to pledge that particular portion of funds for the redemption of any sum borrowed.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
