(Note: 30/3/86 refer to Mr Mountain for immediate examination and report: JY. Colonial Sugar Company Chowne St. I have directed that this sewer pipe be cleaned where choked - This pipe is at the end of that part of Chowne St - terminating in a "cul-de-sac" - which there was some idea of handing over to the Sugar Company, as being of no use to the Council -- As the responsibility of draining this part of Chowne St devolves on the Council whilst the street remains a public way, and as the only way of securing proper drainage is by keeping this pipe (which passes through private property) unobstructed, it is a very grave question whether it would not be better for the City if the Street were abolished: AMC; 5/4/86.)LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
