(Note: 31/3/86 This a/c should be paid without [deduction] as there was no agreement for waiting: JY. City Surveyor report as to why the deduction of 2½% has been made. Johnston & Co. All I can say about this matter is that Messrs Johnston were paid at the price agreed on by their broker. Regarding their statement of the cause of delay in receiving payment; I have made full enquiry and find the fault must rest with themselves as no such obstruction as is herein implied occurred in this office.
