J B Thallon to Alderman G Landers. Complains of the open sewer alongside his houses in Chambers Street Ultimo. Attached is a note written by Marion Brown, 55 Chambers Street: a child (Dolzoppo) died of typhoid fever at No 39 ; a child is said to be lying ill of typhoid at No 53; Dr West has ordered her son to the Diptheria Hospital Glebe Road and he told her to get out of the house at once, he has seen more cases of diptheria out of Chambers St than any other street. There is a report by R W Richards, City Surveyor: the locality is low lying, the drainage underground should be referred to the Water and Sewerage Board, although he does not think it will improve the present condition.
