There are contractors for pipes who have requested extension of time for sending in tenders. The requirements of the City are pressing owing to the new and plentiful supply, but the Mayor has postponed the opening of tenders to March 9th. Alternative tenders may be made for green sand casting in lieu of dry sand, and this would result in a cost saving, and they are good for pipes 6 and 4 inches in diameter, as he has used these pipes previously.
