Note: If there are no complaints about stench from the sewers and the ventilating shaft, it is difficult to see on what grounds the Health Officer recommends a change of the charcoal particularly as his assertion that the charcoal has not been removed or changed for two years is distinctly untrue - it has been changed so lately that it would be absurd to repeat it for another two months: EB; 4/5/65.
