(Note: City Surveyor. These gateways are not "strictly in accordance with the requirements of the Council" as stated. If they were, tram plates would not be required. The Council have recently effected improvements in this street by wood paving and as at any time the plates are laid "on sufferance" to allow them to remain in streets that are wood paved they become unsightly obstructions.
