Following inspection of "opening under footway" at 95 & 97 Duke St, owned by Mr William Carey, and occupied by Mr James Harris and Mr Patrick Barkley, request if cause of danger can be removed under provisions of the "Sydney Corporation Act of 1879" Citizens advise serious accidents in these openings which encroach upon an aligned street. Notes: 1.G Merriman: instance of faulty nature of Act ... must prove built after Act ... old building, recommend inspection by Mayor & Officers, drainage of water would make it unfit for human habitation. 2. RWR: act upon recommendations. 3. City Surveyor to arrange inspection with Mayor and City Health Officer. 4.
