I am informed that a great deal of slaughtering takes place in the City and the large Butchers are the principal delinquents. Instruct the Insp of Nuisances to report and prevent animals being kept on premises for this purpose. Call attention to great nuisance in York, near Market St. Note: R Seymour, Insp of Nuisances: I have instructed 2 officers to visit the large Butcher establishments ... this afternoon, with Mr Baker, I inspected corner named and found all the slaughtering is carried out at Glebe Island, from whence the calves are sent with the hide on.
