There are also two presentation albums of resumption photographs (Volumes 16 and 42). These resumption photographs show various streetscapes before they were swept away in the compulsory council resumptions in the first four decades of the 20th century.

The Sydney Municipal Council gained authority to resume properties in 1905. The council took up resumption with enthusiasm, particularly when Allen Arthur Taylor was the Lord Mayor in 1905–1906 and 1909–1912.

The City Surveyor’s Department engaged the photographic firm Hall & Co (Hall and Company) to take photographs of the City’s resumptions from 1906 until at least 1928. Hall & Co kept the negatives, which means that the City only holds the prints for these photographs. Hall & Co’s practice was to inscribe the date the photograph was taken on to the negative, which distinguishes their prints from other photographic negatives and prints commissioned by the City Building Surveyor.

This album contains photographs of Flinders Street, near Taylor Square, in 1916 before resumption. The last three images show 96 Albion Street, taken 3 July 1920. The pages in the album are numbered from 1 to 51. Detailed captions are written on the pages underneath the photographs. The images are numbered but not in sequence. Negatives have been marked on the photograph / negative with the date the photograph was taken, as well as a numeral and a cross (it is unclear what the symbols reference).

The areas covered in this album include: Darlinghurst and Surry Hills.
