A woman and child are outside number 61 Flinders Street near a curved decorative standard lamp and tram stop maker post with text, 'Wait here for trams'. The street to the left is Short Street with a cottage and signage for a farrier and Bushells Tea. Across the street on the opposite corner is the business of Powell and Company, a piano and organ importer, repairer and tuner at 57 Flinders Street. A man (block boy) is sweeping the street in front of the piano store and there is a man and woman with a child on the footpath behind him. In the distance in the far right is signage for McIlraiths groceries which is in Oxford Street.
