On the left is a row of posters adhered to corrugated iron fence advertising Gonsalez Grand Italian Opera, Royal Strollers at the Palace, Romance at the Criterion, and Duncan McClune at Theatre Royal. Behind this in the distance is the rear of the factory of White and Sons boot manufacturers with distinctive circular window at 22 to 24 Hutchinson Street Surry Hills. The first terrace house, which marks the end of Flinders Street is at number 127. It is occupied by Arthur Darby and has a vacancy sign in the window. To the right beside this is Ellen Phillip's boarding house located at 125 Flinders Street. Two women, one from each terrace, converse on the landing steps with a child nearby. There is a man on the balcony of the next terrace to the right at number 123 Flinders Street, residences run by Miss Buffrey. A tram stop marker post is on the footpath. The single storey building at the fat right is number 113 Flinders Street which is occupied by Charles Nicholls. Flinders Street was originally known as Botany Street until 1895. -- Occupants derived from Sands Sydney, Suburban and Country Commercial Directory, 1916
