Cannon Bros and seven others, 200-212 Pitt Street. They request the 'immediate attention, to an insufferable effluvia arising from a drain contiguous to our premises'. There is a note from Edward Bell, City Engineer, that the nuisance arises from old gullies which open directly into the old drains. He recommends that they be abolished and new ones trapped and connected to the new sewers. There is also attached a letter, from Richard Seymour, Inspector of Nuisances to the Mayor, where he reports that 'the nuisance arises from two old gully shafts once an old Government Brick drain in Pitt Street, one in front of Mr Spencer's and one in front of Cannonn Brothers.
