Jas Roby, Council Clerk, Town Hall, Borough of Balmain. A promise was made to him last Saturday that a man was to be be appointed to attend at the Stand Pipe near the Abattoirs. According, posters were put up all through Balmain notifying that carts could be supplied with water on Monday and every day after, between 7 & 10 am. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday there was no one there. Yesterday (Thursday) there was a man who was only there from 9 till 10. This has caused much inconvenience and loss of time to the carters who had to come back without water. Roby politely requests that the Mayor give the necessary orders to send a man at the time appointed, and if possible extend the time by an extra hour.
