When he presented the order from the Town Clerk to inspect the alteration to the building, the Treasurer of the Agricultural Society refused to admit him without payment, and insulted him. Since the alterations and additions were made, "the risk has been very seriously increased. The whole of the western side and portion of the northern & southern ends of the building have been surrounded with a large structure of wood and iron and in this are steam engines, cooking furnaces etc in full play". The additions have made the policy completely void, and an extra premium will be needed for the two months that the wooden structures are there (3 April to 3 June).LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
