He and others petitioned the council in 1875 for a water trough to be placed at the corner of Sussex and Liverpool Streets, but no trough has been placed there. There is a large amount of traffic along Sussex Street and 'on many occasions I am much inconvenienced by allowing persons passing along the street referred to, to come into my yard for water to give their horses, it being the only convenient place in that locality ... especially during this very warm weather.'
