Unique IDA-00037153SeriesDemolition Books - Albums and Prints, 1900-1949Date1st February 1923Date qualifierexactFormatPhotograph - PrintDescriptionView of The Manchester Unity (MUIOOF) Building located at 219 Castlereagh Street Sydney that was built for the Ancient Order of Foresters in 1884 as documented on the pediment. The building also housed The Playhouse, which has advertising for Trust Suzette near the entrances for Family Circle and The Playhouse Promenade stage door. There is a sign for J & N Tait presents The Repertory Society on the side of the awning. This building was also known as the Royal Standard Theatre from 1886, and Little Theatre. The building at the far left at number 221 has a tobacconist and newsagent at street level selling the Truth and books.

The MUIOOF Building's ornate carved pediment was remarked upon when it was demolished in 1923, along with numbers 221 to 223 Castlereagh Street, to make way for the City South Telephone Exchange, designed by Commonwealth Architect John Smith Murdoch, completed in 1925.
