The files were not top-numbered by South Sydney. On 1 January 1982 South Sydney Municipal Council was abolished and amalgamated with the Sydney City Council. The records of South Sydney Municipal Council, including the Town Clerk's Correspondence Files in this series, were transferred back to Sydney City Council, where they have been maintained separately in AS-0096.
